10 Wrestlers Who Have Become More Inspiring Since They Retired

6. Jesse Ventura

Where to start with Jesse 'The Body' Ventura? After all, did anybody see the former wrestler, loudmouth announcer and occasional movie star winding up with a career in politics? Somewhat akin to his buddy Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ventura shockingly entered office in 1998, becoming Governor of Minnesota.

Somewhat of a revolutionary and anarchist with his views, Jesse has been very outspoken about the way politicians behave, believing the world to be filled with a real degree of falseness and bravado, rather than any real action. For someone to come from the wrestling business and feel this way, it's remarkable, but Ventura speaks with an authoritative tone.

During his time as Governor, Ventura decided against living in the plush mansion afforded by his position, instead staying put in his own home. This drew criticism, but surely stands as an admirable decision from the man, someone who has shown that wrestlers aren't always merely the bonehead muscle men that many outside the industry claim them to be.
