WWE will soon go into hype overdrive for a Madison Square Garden house show that'll celebrate 20 years of Rey Mysterio in the company. Rey looks awesome in 2022, just as he did when he whipped Chavo Guerrero in a hot showcase of his skills on the 25 July 2002 episode of SmackDown.

Why is Mysterio the focus here and not Sin Cara? Well, WWE hoped that Cara would replicate Rey's sweet debut vs. Primo on the 11 April 2011 Raw. He...didn't. In fact, the former Mistico looked sloppy and uncoordinated during most of his earliest appearances.

Vince McMahon, as he tends to do, quickly lost interest.

WWE ploughed ahead with plans to have Cara mix it with top names like John Cena, but that was short-lived and akin to putting gauze on a decapitated head. The masked man hadn't lived up the hype - he knew it, WWE knew it, fans knew it. Everybody knew it.
