10 Wrestlers Who Literally Destroyed The Ring
5. Bam Bam Bigelow
As two of the hardest-hitting wrestlers in ECW history, Taz and Bam Bam Bigelow’s TV Title bout at Living Dangerously 1998 should have been a barn-burner. Unfortunately, the two never quite got going in the ring, and the match was a letdown. It was a highly disjointed affair that felt like nothing more than an elongated set-up for the closing spot, but said spot didn't disappoint.
Having battled outside, Taz and Bam Bam re-entered the ring, where ‘The Human Suplex Machine’ locked-in his trademark Katihajime submission. With both arms wrapped around Bigelow’s head and neck, Taz mounted the bigger man, attempting to completely drain his oxygen supply. Dazed and struggling, Bam Bam stumbled around the ring, found the perfect spot, and leapt backwards, sending him and Taz through the boards, and all the way to the floor.
As with the vast majority of ring breaking spots, it was clearly planned, but came completely after nowhere. A minute later, Bam Bam pulled Taz from the wreckage, pinned him, and took the championship home, but they weren’t even the last match on the card. The Sandman and Sabu wrestled a dud shortly after, with the crowd still coming down from the epic squared circle destruction.
