10 Wrestlers Who Lost Gold In Their Hometown

4. Joseph Conners

Most hometown title losses should draw an immense deal of sympathy from the fanbase, but not this one. As Drew Galloway proudly hoisted the WCPW Championship over his head on November 30th’s Delete WCPW, it was hard to shake the feeling that Joseph Conners, the former champion, had gotten exactly what he deserved.

Conners became champion by pinning his former tag team partner Joe Hendry at Stacked back in August. He rubber-stamped his betrayal with a chairshot and a vicious, clobbering beatdown, thus kicking-off the most personal feud in WCPW’s short history, and setting the duo on a long collision course.

Drew Galloway was added to the equation after Conners’ deadly Righteous Kill had left him injured for close to three months. Having spent much of his near 100-day title reign on the run from Hendry, Conners now had two headhunters on his trail, and he found himself locked inside a steel cage with both in his native Nottingham.

Hendry looked to have sealed the win after a hard-fought battle, but just as he was about to escape, Conners had Galloway set-up for another Righteous Kill. With Conners threatening to break Galloway’s neck, Hendry climbed back down, but Galloway reversed the move, hit his own Future Shock DDT, and scored the win before Hendry could react. A disappointing night for the Local Hero, but redemption for Drew Galloway.
