10. The Ultimate Warrior's Comic Book Clause

Just look at Vince McMahon's face in the pic above.

He was livid, and not only because The Ultimate Warrior decided to wear a baseball cap at the last minute. No, the WWE boss was fuming 'cause it was already clear to everyone that Warrior's 1996 comeback was floppier than the dollar bills McMahon hoped to wave around as justification for re-signing him.

Via his podcast, Bruce Prichard told stories of meetings between company and wrestler right before Warrior returned. They went from friendly to fraught with remarkable speed, and that's probably due to one clause the face-painted nightmare wanted in his contract. Warrior had just launched a comic book, and he wanted the WWF to buy thousands of copies (read again; not just promote the thing, but effectively pay for it).

He wouldn't budge on that either, which meant McMahon had a decision to make. The gaffer could relent and purchase loads of comics he knew he'd never sell, or he could wave goodbye to Warrior's star power. Vince chose the former, and the company ended up with box after box of useless, unwanted product.
