10 Wrestlers Who Never Recovered From Awful Debuts

1. Mojo Rawley

On the surface, Mojo Rawley had the tools to become a real hit in the Land of the Giants.

As a former professional American Football player, he was clearly a gifted athlete, wasn't what you'd class as small, and possessed the sort of raw energy which could have lit up any arena on the planet...with the right character.

However, instead of being billed as a formidable charismatic bulldozer, Rawley was given the 'HYPE!' gimmick and told to bounce around NXT like a five year-old experiencing a sugar rush.

Obviously feeling this colourful chaos would go down a storm on the main roster, WWE decided to eventually have Rawley debut at the Battleground PPV. Would he be involved in a high profile squash? Or perhaps even an exciting multi-man tag match?

Not a chance.

After his NXT Hype Bros partner Zack Ryder had been defeated and subsequently attacked by United States Champion Rusev post-match, Rawley bolted down to the ring and proceeded to scream at the 'Bulgarian Brute'. And that was about it, really.

In hindsight, this all bark and no bite display set the tone for the majority of his main roster career as Rawley routinely jumps around like a maniac, but fans very rarely care about (or understand) him and the matches he's a part of.

He'll always have his seven 24/7 Championship reigns and an Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal win, though. So that's...something.
