10 Wrestlers Who No-Showed

9. Chris Benoit

Event: WWE Vengeance 2007.

What Happened: This is obviously grim, so please be warned.

Chris Benoit no-showed some WWE house shows in June 2007, but explained over the phone that his wife and young son were ill. The truth, whilst devastating, didn't come out until after he also failed to turn up for an ECW Title bout with CM Punk at the Vengeance pay-per-view on 24 June.

Later, news broke that Benoit had actually murdered his family and then committed suicide shortly thereafter. The entire pro wrestling world was shaken to its very foundations by this news. It remains one of the (if not the) most shockingly depressing incidents in WWE history.

Benoit had no-showed WWE's latest loop because he wasn't in any fit mental state to work. Then, he missed Vengeance because he was taking his own life back home. This appalling set of events was explored in-depth on VICE's 'Dark Side Of The Ring' series.

Check that out for greater context.
