For Cody, 2019 has clearly been a fantastic year. Working with your buddies to create a new wrestling promotion that's backed by a billionaire? That's not a bad gig if you can get it.

Away from that side of AEW, Cody has had a year that's seen him put on the best in-ring contests of his career, with his Double or Nothing match against brother Dustin likely being the very best match of either men's time in the squared circle. Then comes the promo work, which continues to maintain a standard that has Cody viewed as one of the greatest talkers in the business today.

For sure, it's all looking rosy for Cody here in 2019. And that's before you even consider the fact that he gets to revisit so many highly personable memories by spending time with family friends like Tony Schiavone and Diamond Dallas Page on a regular basis.

2019 has undoubtedly been the peak of Cody Rhodes' professional wrestling career. The greater question, is whether this is as good as it ever gets for Cody.

What the wrestling world has seen in 2019 - the emergence of a company with the financial means to become genuine competition for WWE - is something that may not ever be replicated, and now it's down to Cody to see if he can somehow top what has been a 2019 full of so many wins across the board for The American Nightmare.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
