10 Wrestlers Who Seriously Started To Believe Their Own Hype

8. Goldberg

It's fair to say that wrestling companies can make of break their talent, depending on how they book them. In the case of Bill Goldberg, WCW pushed him to the moon, making him seem like a huge star right from the get-go. A product of the WCW Powerplant training facility, Goldberg would go on to become arguably WCW's first true home grown star. It's clear that the promotion's management really liked the cut of Bill's jib, and they quickly established him as a true threat to stars the size of Hollywood Hogan, the aforementioned Kevin Nash, Sting and many others. The beauty of Goldberg's push was the simplicity of it all, the man simply ran roughshod over everyone in his path, and fans paid attention as a result of his incendiary aura. Somewhere along the line, that success seemed to go to Goldberg's head, something told numerous times by the likes of Bret Hart, Kevin Nash and Chris Jericho, who all had run-ins with the man's inflated self-worth. Believing himself to be the crown jewel of WCW, big Bill's star was relatively brief, and he largely lives out of the wrestling spotlight nowadays, despite being one of wrestling's bright light during the late-90's.
