Sticking with 1996 and good grief, look at Bob Holly's hair. In case you didn't recognise the future Hardcore, Bob Holly is the man in the fetching red ring gear on the left of this picture.

Why does he look like a NASCAR driver moonlighting as a wrestler, I hear you ask? Well, that was his gimmick. Originally debuting as Thurman "Sparky" Plugg (a name that thankfully died a death pretty quickly), Holly's original character was that of a racing driver turned pro wrestler. Ah, the mid-90s. Simpler times.

Clearly his days behind the wheel set Bob up nicely for the endurance of the Royal Rumble, as he lastly nearly 40 minutes in 1996. Entering at number 5, Holly was fairly active in this match, mixing it up with legends such as Mabel, Aldo Montoya, and... Doug Gilbert?? The state of your roster, 1996 WWF.

Despite his best efforts, Bob's 39 minutes and 35 seconds didn't yield a single elimination. The racing driver was sent back to the pits when he was dumped over the top by The Ringmaster, AKA "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Pfft, he's fine, but he's no Doug Gilbert.
