10 Wrestlers Who Suffered A Crippling Crisis Of Confidence

9. Vader

Vader's plight couldn't have been more different to Alexa Bliss.

The monstrous man was already a 13-year veteran when Jim Ross informed him in 1998 that he was being shipped off to a specialised weight loss clinic to shift some pounds. To put that into context, Vader had been challenging for the WWF Title just two years before this humiliating decree.

He didn't have a say in the matter. If Vader wanted to remain under company contract, then he'd do as he was told and work on losing some mass. This, by the way, followed a memorable promo at Over The Edge '98 during which he said, "Maybe Vader time is over. I'm a piece of sh*t. A big fat piece of sh*t" after losing to Kane.

All the aura he'd built up through years of hard work in Japan and WCW vanished, and it was clear that the big man, scripted promos or not, was damaged goods. Ross said on his 'Grilling JR' pod that Vader was struggling with confidence around this time.

No wonder.
