Choosing to open their HIAC bout atop the deadly structure wasn't some calculated artistic decision by Mick Foley and The Undertaker. No, it was born through a lack of self-confidence from Mick that he could top what 'Taker and Shawn Michaels had achieved inside the cage around eight months before.

Their corker at In Your House: Badd Blood had Foley's throat thick with acid reflux, because he wasn't sure he'd be able to do what HBK had. To remedy this, Mick went for broke and pitched that his King Of The Ring 1998 bout should be totally different, daring and (some would say) reckless.

WWF officials were shocked that he wanted to take a bump off the Cell.

Mick confided in Bruce Prichard that he was worried about matching Shawn's athleticism, big-bumping style and psychology against The Undertaker, especially when 'Taker would be working with a broken ankle. That apprehension and lack of confidence gave birth to one of wrestling's most iconic matches.
