10 Wrestlers Who Threw Their Championships Away
1. Madusa - WWF Womens Championship
In 1991, Ric Flair left WCW to briefly join WWF, bringing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship with him, proclaiming himself "The Real World's Champion". In 1995, history repeated itself but the championship in question was not offered the same respect.
Alundra Blayze spearheaded the revival of WWF's woman's division in 1993 and remained the Women's Champion for the majority of that time, battling the likes of Bull Nakano and Bertha Faye for the strap. Competition was slim, though, and by December 1995, after contract negotiations went south, Blayze left to sign with WCW. Like Flair before her, Blayze was still in possession of the Women's Championship
Eric Bischoff had recently become WCW vice president and launched Nitro to go head-to-head with WWF Raw on Monday nights. When he heard the situation, Bischoff instructed Blayze to make her debut with the belt, and throw it in a trashcan live on TV. The plan went ahead and Blayze, reclaiming her old identity as Madusa, binned the pink & gold in one of the loudest early shots of the Monday Night Wars - a stunt that she would later go on to regret.
As a result of this blatant disrespect to the title she rebuilt, Madusa was blacklisted from WWE for 20 years before being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.
