By mid-1997, former friends Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were anything but.

Their fractured relationship came to a head when Bret literally ripped clumps of Shawn's hair out before the 9 June 1997 episode of Raw. As Bruce Prichard tells it, he and Vince McMahon were in a meeting when an emotional Michaels kicked the door in and ranted about unsafe working conditions.

He then told McMahon that he'd be back when the boss could get a handle on Bret and stop him from being attacked backstage. Nobody present at the meeting knew what to do once HBK charged off, grabbed his bags and asked Peter 'Justin Credible' Polaco to give him a ride back to his hotel.

Michaels wouldn't make a comeback until July. Bret later explained his autobiography that he'd been enraged by comments Shawn made on live TV about Hart having "some Sunny days" (alleging that he was sleeping with her behind his wife's back).
