10 Wrestlers Who Were Released For Breaking Kayfabe

1. Serena Deeb

It's incredible that this happened as recently as 2010.

On 20 August that year, Serena Deeb was informed that her WWE contract would be terminated immediately. When she asked why, company officials told her that she hadn't been "living out" her on-screen character in public. In other words, she had been spotted drinking in bars with her peers.

Why was that an issue? Well, it shouldn't have been, but Deeb was part of CM Punk's 'Straight Edge Society' faction. The 'Saviour' spoke of rescuing "lost souls" like Luke Gallows, Joey Mercury and Serena from serious addictions, and WWE were annoyed that Deeb wasn't following her gimmick on the road.

Think about that. She was sacked for failing to act like her fictional character in real life. In 2010. ELEVEN YEARS AGO. Serena's release came after she'd already pre-recorded some more segments for SmackDown - that meant she still appeared on the 27 August show despite already being dismissed one week before.
