8. Karrion Kross
Karrion Kross seemed like a perfect fit for Vince McMahon’s land of the giants. Not only did he have the size and look but a lot of thought and effort had gone into his presentation. On NXT Kross was given a dramatic, sports entertainment-tastic entrance, complete with spooky music, dry ice and his real-life partner Scarlet Bordeaux as his lip-syncing valet.
Moved to the main roster, the former Killer Kross was inexplicably stripped of Scarlet, the bells and whistles and the aura he had built up in NXT. In their place, he was given a costume akin to a Roman centurion at a sex party. As anyone not called Vince McMahon could have predicted, it did not get over. It wasn’t long before he and Scarlet were just two more names on the latest list of releases.
Kross recently admitted he thought he’d be a WWE lifer. Despite expressing interest in AEW, he seems a better fit for the market leaders than Tony Khan’s work-rate heavy promotion. Perhaps he’ll get a second bite of the cherry from the guy who booked him as a dominant destroyer instead of a historical gimp.
