10 Wrestlers Who Will Never Be World Champion Again
7. CM Punk
What a ride, eh?
In one of the seemingly infinite amount of pinch-me moments to tumble out of 2022, none other than CM Punk managed to walk out of AEW's Double or Nothing as the new World Champion.
That first run would unfortunately stutter before it ever really started thanks to a crowd-diving injury (it happens). But the Chick Magnet managed to overcome adversity once again by lifting his second AEW top strap at All Out.
Again, though, things didn't exactly get off to a pleasant start, and one company-incinerating press conference pipe bomb later, an injured Phil Brooks was strapless once more.
Any hopes of the third time being the charm aren't exactly looking all that likely at this current moment in time, with AEW reportedly being in the middle of negotiating a buy-out of Punk's contract on the back of the controversial backstage Brawl Out altercation.
Now sure, anything is possible in this whacky world of wrasslin', with the idea of the former champ returning to either AEW or WWE probably not completely off the table at this current moment.
However, you can bet neither promotion will be in a rush to put their top title on the somewhat unpredictable Best in the World should he ever decide to scratch the wrestling itch again.
