10 Wrestlers Whose Careers Were Destroyed By A Single Mistake
8. Rick Bognar
Sometimes the simple act of saying yes is enough to destroy your career. This was the case when Rick Bognar accepted a lucrative looking gig with WWE.
In September 1996 WWE were in dire-straits: WCW was winning the Monday night ratings battle, and Turner's side had also captured two of McMahon's leading acts Scott 'Razor Ramon' Hall and Kevin 'Diesel' Nash. Eager to still capitalise on the characters he had created, a desperate McMahon simply recast the roles.
Jim Ross hyped the duo's arrival on RAW. WCW management was so concerned by these claims that they gave Hall and Nash pay-rises, but Atlanta's fears that two-thirds of the New World Order were going back to McMahon were ill-founded.
A pre-Kane Glenn Jacobs would fill Nash's shoes as Diesel. Bognar would become Razor Ramon. The team were introduced by a heel Ross to utter silence; the fans didn't even find this worthy of boos. Despite this reaction, the pair of ringside ringers would take on the WWE Tag Team Champions Owen Hart and 'The British Bulldog' at In Your House 12 in a losing effort.
Thankfully the Royal Rumble would be their final appearance. Glenn Jacobs would be repackaged as Kane. Bognar would pay for this mistake with his career. A trip to Japan would follow but, "Hey Chico", the damage was done.
