10 Wrestlers Whose Most Memorable Moment Was In Defeat

6. Randy Savage At WrestleMania VII

Randy Savage lost a Career Match to The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VII (even after hitting several patented elbow drops off the top rope) and then, after the 1-2-3 had been counted, something very unique happened. After the loss, The Macho King (who was a heel at the time) was getting yelled at by his manager Queen Sherri. He ended up being saved by his former manager Miss Elizabeth, who he split up with about two years earlier, with Liz knocking Sherri out of the ring. When Savage realized what was happening, he gave his former flame a big hug and put her on his shoulders as the cameras focused in on audience members who were literally crying due to the emotion of the moment. Savage won a lot in his career and is definitely one of the best wrestlers of his or any era, but it's that loss to Warrior at 'Mania VII that stands out the most. It showed that, even in defeat, fans loved this guy because of the heart he showed in his matches and also for the fact that he still cared about Elizabeth. There's another high-profile Savage loss that was really memorable, too: WrestleMania III against Ricky Steamboat. That was one of the best and most famous matches ever, with Steamboat winning with an inside cradle.
