10 Wrestlers Whose Most Memorable Moment Was In Defeat
5. Andre The Giant At WrestleMania III
Andre The Giant was one of the biggest attractions in wrestling (literally) and one of the top babyfaces in WWE for most of the 1980s. When WWE turned Andre heel they did so because they wanted him to put over Hulk Hogan, who was going to be the guy for the foreseeable future. With Andre's career winding down, the decision was made to do Hogan vs. Andre at WrestleMania III 1987. Taking place at the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, 93,173 (actually 78,000) witnessed the Irresistible Force meeting the Immovable Object. It could be argued that this is the most famous professional wrestling match ever because even many non-wrestling fans have seen the visual of Hogan slamming Andre and then hitting the legdrop to retain the WWE Title. Hogan vs. Andre was one of the most important matches in WWE history due to the setting and the fact that Andre lost clean, which was so incredibly rare. Andre wrestled in so many big matches, but it's that loss that people remember the most.
