10 Wrestlers Whose Stock Has Risen In 2017

3. Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega might be the most buzz-worthy wrestler on the planet at the moment. The Bullet Club’s leader has achieved a level of renown usually reserved for top WWE stars, and has become a genuine international superstar without their promotional machine behind him. A remarkable achievement at a time when WWE’s colossal market share essentially grants them complete control over the sport, and one that shouldn’t be downplayed.

Much of Omega’s hype came on the back of his sensational match with Kazuchika Okada on January 4th. An instant classic, it broke Dave Meltzer’s famous rating system with a six-star award, and set the internet ablaze, solidifying Omega’s transcendent status within the sport. The duo will rematch on June 11th, and while Omega was unsuccessful in January, there’s a strong chance he’ll prevail this time, and lead NJPW through their upcoming US expansion as IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

Kenny has always been a tremendous wrestler, but his star has never been bigger than it is today. Having turned WWE down at the start of the year, he’ll continue to build his brand throughout 2017, and if he continues producing at his current level, he’ll be a surefire Wrestler Of The Year candidate.
