10 Wrestlers Whose WWE Legacies Have Been Revised
5. John Cena
For a long while, it was fully expected that John Cena would eventually answer the calls of Hollywood, in turn leaving his wrestling career behind for a stint on the Silver Screen - just as The Rock had done around a decade earlier. And if Cena had left in 2008 or 2009 - right around the time it looked like he may have run his race in wrestling - he would likely have bowed out with a reputation similar to that of Hulk Hogan, i.e. someone who dominated, and dominated... and dominated.
But, having stayed the course, Cena - although by no means universally popular (you can still hear the faint sound of jeering each time his music hits) - now has the sort of status once enjoyed by the likes of Shawn Michaels and Undertaker. He's still very much a main event guy, but no longer the main event guy, no longer the guy who has to win, the guy who never loses - and his legacy has been transformed as a result.
