10 Wrestlers With The Worst Punches In The Business
10. The Rock
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wasn’t just outstandingly entertaining on the mic, he was an exceptional wrestler for the relatively short time he was with the WWE. His matches with Chris Jericho and Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H are five-star classics.
But he wasn’t the most authentic pro wrestler. Just look at The People's Elbow as a ridiculous/entertaining finisher. It’s the same with his punches. Fans either love or hate them. There’s fans who take issue with them because they’re ludicrous and distracting, especially when he would take on intense competitors like Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock.
In fairness look closely and they are more slaps than strikes. It doesn’t particularly matter mind, his striking combos were great at getting the crowd into the match and his comeback. Especially the blows he laid just before his final spit punch which most wrestlers sold like they were just run over by a car (not the Rikishi kind). Look to when he took on Brock Lesner at SummerSlam or Eddie Guerrero on Raw; both sell like crazy. The Rock has fun with it all too: in between his punch combo he’s done the Ric Flair strut, the Yes Chant and other wrestling trademarks.
If you’re looking for realism stick with his Rock 'n' Sock Connection partner Mick Foley in his hardcore classics. If you’re looking to be wildly entertained though, The Rock’s punches are for you.
