10 Wrestlers WWE Are Currently Dropping The Ball With

9. Rusev

As was the case following his various run-ins with John Cena in 2015, Rusev’s feud with Roman Reigns has left him adrift.

‘The Bulgarian Brute’ transitioned into an atrocious feud with Enzo and Big Cass earlier this year, but was injured in March, and forced to take some time off after pointlessly losing to Big Show at Fastlane. Drafted to SmackDown in the Superstar Shake-Up, Rusev was being set up for a big return angle in April.

Appearing via satellite, the former United States Champion stated that he’d refuse to appear on the brand unless he was granted a WWE Title shot at Money In The Bank 2017. Unfortunately, the angle was abandoned without resolution a few weeks later, with speculation suggesting that Jinder Mahal was given his push instead.

Rusev returned at a WWE live event over the weekend, and should re-emerge on television imminently. He may come back with a clear, focused direction, but we shouldn’t hold out hope. Rusev was cleared to return several weeks ago, but WWE still haven’t moved to bring him into the fold on SD, and the abandonment of his MITB angle suggests that they have no idea what to do with him.
