10 Wrestlers WWE Gave Up On In 2019

9. Mike Kanellis

Whether WWE ever gave a hoot about Mike Kanellis in the first place is debatable, given how poorly they handled his debut, though the promotion at least tried to do something with him and wife Maria earlier this year.

Their cuckolding storyline was bad. So, so bad. Regardless, it got both on television, showing that WWE at least had enough faith in them to carry a goofy undercard programme the likes of which Paul Heyman has always dabbled in. Mike has always been an effective jobber, too, so him getting battered by Maria's potential baby daddies at least let him play a complementary role.

The pregnancy angle was abandoned without concrete resolution. Bobby Lashley, Lana, and Rusev became the hip new cuck angle, and Mike was removed from WWE's schedule entirely. The man's last match came on the 24 September episode of SmackDown, on which he lost to Chad Gable in 19 seconds. He isn't even working house shows.

This is almost certainly down to Kanellis' decision to ask for his release just four months after signing a new deal with the promotion, though it's clear that his employers gave up on him regardless. He's in career purgatory for the foreseeable future.
