10 Wrestlers WWE Paid To Do NOTHING!
7. Hulk Hogan
After WrestleMania VIII, the Hulk Hogan balloon was set to burst. The Hulkster had been walking tall in WWE for the better part of a decade, but his inflated physique simply couldn't be let down quick enough to mask the burgeoning steroid scandal which threatened to sink Titan. A disastrous appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show only screwed up the scrutiny, and it was decided that for the good of the company, Hogan would take a leave of absence.
Effectively, WWE were shoving Hogan in a metaphorical cupboard, in the hope he'd more closely resemble a literal skeleton when he emerged. It wasn't an ideal solution; they were paying him him for his hermitude, and when he made a return in 1993 ahead of WrestleMania, fans had already turned against him.
Even with his punier physique, Hogan still managed to muscle his way into the main event. For many, it was a remnant of a fast food chain going green: the last straw. Another sabbatical followed after a defeat to Yokozuna, before Hogan eventually wriggled out of his contract to earn even more in Atlanta - albeit with considerably more work.
