10 Wrestlers You Totally Forgot Headlined WWE PPVs
6. Rhyno
The WCW invasion of WWE was supposed to be the greatest wrestling storyline ever, but as everyone who was watching then knows, it was a colossal failure. To make a long story short, a revived ECW contingent was aligned with the WCW stars, and then they were all jobbed out to make WWE look good.
Still, fans were interested, and to this day, the initial "Invasion" PPV boasts the most buys of any non-WrestleMania wrestling show ever. That card was headlined by a ten-man tag team match that saw five of the top stars of WWE against five of the top stars of the Alliance.
One of the problems with the Invasion was that many of WCW's top stars were under contract with Time Warner, not WCW - that meant WWE didn't pick up their contracts in the buyout, and in order to hire those guys, they'd have to offer them cash incentives to give up their lucrative, ongoing deals. WWE didn't want to do that, and the result was that the Alliance side was lacking in star power. That meant that Rhyno - who, in fairness, was the last ECW Champion - got to be part of that ten-man tag main event. Ultimately, though, he - and the rest of the Alliance - were overshadowed when Steve Austin turned heel to lead the renegade group.
