10 Wrestlers You Totally Forgot Headlined WWE PPVs
5. The Spirit Squad
Vengeance 2006 still stands as one of the most stacked "B-shows" WWE has ever run. The event boasted a WWE Championship match pitting Rob Van Dam against Edge, a Mick Foley versus Ric Flair two-out-of-three-falls match, and an unlikely dream bout pitting John Cena against Sabu. At the very top of the card, though, was the reunion of D-Generation X, and they teamed up to take on The Spirit Squad.
That's right, The Spirit Squad - Kenny, Mikey, Nicky, Johnny, and Mitch - all have a PPV main event to their names. Perhaps even funnier is that for Nicky - who would go on to become Dolph Ziggler - this bout represents one of only three PPV main events he's accumulated to this day.
The match itself was a complete waste of time, with the five members of The Spirit Squad serving as cannon fodder for the two-man DX team. This was a very clear sign that WWE was more interested in mining nostalgia for money than in creating stars who would carry the company moving forward, and that's a problem that continues to this day - just check out WrestleMania 32 for proof.
