There aren't many veterans as respected in the wrestling industry as Dave "Fit" Finlay. One of the toughest men in the sport's history, it was thought that his career was ended by a 1999 accident that nearly led to his leg being severed, but in 2005, "The Belfast Brawler" simply decided he want to return to action, and did just that on Smackdown.

Despite being 48 years old, Finlay didn't miss a beat. He soon became one of the best parts of Smackdown, with a United States Championship run that most fans remember fondly. What fewer remember, though, is that during his run, Finlay also competed in a pair of PPV main events.

The first came at No Mercy 2006 and saw Finlay get a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. The main event of the show was a fatal four-way match pitting champion King Booker against Bobby Lashley, Batista, and Finlay, with "The Belfast Bruiser" playing something of a spoiler - as a member of King Booker's Court, his presence potentially spelled an advantage for the champ. Ultimately, Booker pinned Finlay to retain.

Finlay's other main event came a couple of months later at Armageddon. Still aligned with Booker, the pair both wanted to challenge then-World Heavyweight Champion Batista for his belt, but instead, the bout was a tag match - Booker and Finlay versus Batista and the partner of his choice. Batista picked WWE Champion (and Raw superstar) John Cena, and the superteam was victorious.
