3. Chyna - New World Order

Chyna first attracted attention from the world's two biggest wrestling promotions in 1996. Trained by Walter 'Killer' Kowalski, she stood out for her size and power, and met Triple H and Shawn Michaels at an independent show that year. The D-Generation X duo got hold of some tapes of her matches and decided they needed to bring her into the company, though Vince McMahon took some serious convincing.

The chairman didn't think the audience would find the idea of a woman competing with male opposition believable, but almost paid for his hesitancy. WCW approached Chyna with the offer of becoming the nWo's sole female member while WWE were still making their decision, and 'The Ninth Wonder Of The World' decided to accept.

Chyna went back on their agreement shortly after. Shane McMahon called her to state that WWE were about to extend a contract offer, and she signed for the company in 1997. Instead of debuting as part of the New World Order, Chyna immediately joined D-Generation X as the group's bodyguard, and embarked upon a groundbreaking run may not have happened had WCW's interest not prompted the McMahons' decision to sign her.
