In 2021, Brock was working with bottom talent like Crash Holly, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn, beating them all even though he was still only in OVW at the time.

One talent Brock couldn’t beat, though, was Albert.

On the Sunday Night Heat Taping on 20th November 2001, the future Lord Tensai defeated Lesnar with his Chokebomb pin finisher. The entire match circulates online to this day. It’s fitting Brock and Albert worked together in Brock’s early days, given Albert’s true calling in the business would be as Head Trainer at the WWE Performance Centre, teaching future NXT/WWE talents.

Albert and unbelievably Scotty 2 Hotty then beat Brock Lesnar and Ron Waterman a few months before Lesnar debuted on Raw and ‘Here Comes The Pain’ was born. It’s okay though, Lesnar got his revenge by manhandling Albert (then A-Train) many times over on SmackDown when Lesnar was looked upon as ‘The Man’.

These two wrestling against one another wasn’t exclusive to WWE. Brock’s last match for New Japan Pro Wrestling was against Albert (then competing as ‘Giant Bernard’) in an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship defence in the first American vs. American title match in NJPW in nearly 20 years.
