10 Wrestling Combinations That Shouldn't Have Worked But Did
1. The New Day
A Jamaican. A powerlifter. A PhD student. It sounds like the start of a bad joke, but it was actually a start of one of the best factions in WWE history.
The New Day got its humble start when Xavier Woods offered to help out the tag team of Big E and Kofi Kingston in 2014. All three men were at a low point in their careers, both in kayfabe and real life, so now was the time to take a chance.
From their origins as a gospel group, to their first heel turn, to KofiMania and everything in between, The New Day have been a constant presence in WWE without ever getting stale.
Their continued popularity is testament to the real life friendship of all three men and they serve as an inspiration to any wrestler who is ever debating taking a chance on themselves.
When this group started, it seemed like just another random stable that would be gone in a few months. But, through sheer determination of those involved, The New Day have defied all expectations and will no doubt one day take their place in the WWE Hall of Fame.
