10 Wrestling Combinations That Shouldn't Have Worked But Did

5. The Broserweights

Before there was RK-Bro, Matt Riddle was part of another odd couple pairing in NXT, alongside The Bruiserweight, Pete Dunne.

Dunne's ultra-serious demeanour was the perfect foil to Riddle's wacky personality and the two got seriously over with fans, leading them to not only compete in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but to win the whole thing.

Then, they cashed in their shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships, unseating The Undisputed Era at NXT TakeOver: Portland in 2020. Big things were surely in the pipeline for both Riddle and Dunne, but their time together was about to be cruelly cut short.

TakeOver: Portland took place just a few weeks before the Coronavirus pandemic completely changed the world. Part of that change meant that international travel was basically non-existent, leaving Dunne stranded away from Riddle in his native England.

This led to Riddle finding a replacement partner in Timothy Thatcher, only for him to turn on Matt and lose him the titles.

The Broserweights were a fantastic act that were sadly cut short by external influences. However, with Triple H now in control, could we see this storyline get its proper conclusion on the main roster?
