Becky Lynch has been in creative free fall since becoming the first ever SmackDown Women's Champion in 2016. Back then, she seemed to have the world at her feet, and it was clear WWE had a fiery babyface fans genuinely liked on their hands. They haven't exactly capitalised on Becky's natural zest for performing or likability.

In the two years since, she's been cast as Charlotte Flair's on/off sidekick rather than someone who stands on her own two feet, and that's something Lynch herself finds a tad belittling.

During a chat with Jim Ross for his podcast, Becky admitted that the sidekick tag has affected her over the past few years. Whilst she does enjoy seeing a real-life friend like Charlotte soar to new heights and be portrayed as a strong, independent woman, Lynch can't help feeling a bit overlooked.

The sidekick character does work for the current storyline heading into SummerSlam (a triple threat match involving Becky, Flair and Carmella), and Lynch gets that. At the same time, she'd obviously love to have more individuality.
