Movie buffs know Eli Roth as the director of Hostel, Cabin Fever, and as the co-producer of 2017's Baywatch relaunch. He's a famous name in Hollywood, and he was almost a famous name in pro wrestling circles years before that too. Things could've been remarkably different for Eli.

Eric Bischoff said on his '83 Weeks' podcast that Roth pitched a cartoon series to him that'd air between segments on Nitro. The serial would be called 'Chowda' Heads', and it'd follow the wacky adventures of wrestling fans from Boston and their shared love of WCW's product.

It wasn't meant to be.

Bischoff was mentally frazzled by the time Roth made his play in 1999, and management at Turner weren't too interested in Roth's idea anyway. The pitch, one which aimed to capitalise on the success of adult-themed animation like South Park, fell through.
