There was a time when John Cena played a hard-edged rapper who favoured brawling and insults. Initially working the character as a heel,

Cena clicked with the WWE audience, rising up the ranks to become a top star. Only then did fans begin to turn on the man, and the rotten dialogue he was handed by the writing team didn't help matters.

Recanting lines like, 'Baloney, fudge, mustard' and using words like 'Poopy', Cena turned into a child-friendly cartoon character. Now, he's one of the senior figures in the WWE locker room, a true company man.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, he let everyone in on his real thoughts.

Put simply, Cena misses blood and profanity on WWE TV. He feels bad language allowed performers to be more natural, and claret gave top feuds more room to breathe. Now, those aspects have been stripped away.

More than ever before, wrestlers must watch what they say, and blood usually signals the arrival of medical staff to treat wounds mid-match.

As the poster boy for WWE's way of doing things, it's interesting to hear that Cena doesn't necessarily agree with everything the company does.
