Excited and inspired by what he had seen, Jim Ross immediately took a late flight back to WWE Headquarters, seeking out Vince McMahon. Ross had just come from Los Angeles, where he'd signed up one John Cena to a then-WWF contract after seeing him work at Rick Bassman's UPW Wrestling.

Looking for the boss, JR was dog-tired when he finally found McMahon. Then, the announcer proceeded to tell his superior that he had just signed a sure fire future WrestleMania main eventer. In fact, Ross was so enthused by Cena's abilities that he told McMahon the wrestler would headline the infamous show within 5 years.

This was a story told by JR on his official website, and he then went on to say that McMahon didn't say a word at first. Scanning his employee up and down, he noticed that he was completely spent, needed a shower and a shave.

That's what McMahon told an excitable Jim Ross to do, get himself home for some rest and pampering. He didn't even sell the idea of John Cena, who of course went on to fulfil JR's prophecy.
