10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (August 30)
3. Shinsuke Nakamura Bought Karl Anderson Food For Six Months
Shinsuke Nakamura is, without doubt, one of the nicest gents in pro wrestling, and this story proves it.
Karl Anderson appeared on Lilian Garcia's 'Chasing Glory' podcast to talk about his first memories of meeting Shin. At the time, although they were both training at New Japan's dojo in Los Angeles, their personal circumstances couldn't have been more different. Anderson was totally skint, sleeping on the ring canvas every night and struggling to even eat.
One day after training, Nakamura invited him out for food and Karl quietly admitted he didn't have enough to pay. So, Shinsuke marched him to the nearest cash machine, watched as Anderson put his card in, encouraged him to hit 'Balance' and saw that he had $14 to his name. Worried, Nakamura asked, 'What's going on?'.
After hearing of Anderson's struggles, Shinsuke said, "I take care" and it wasn't even up for debate. Showing his classy side, the current WWE Intercontinental Champ then continued to pay for Anderson's meals for around six more months until his new friend was back on his feet.
What a guy.
