10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Dec 5)
8. Randy Savage Was Bayley's Inspiration
Growing up, current NXT Women's Champion Bayley was a huge pro wrestling fan. Born in 1989, her fondest memories as a fan perhaps come from the 'Attitude' Era, when she was old enough to really home in on what she was watching. For that very reason, she was a massive fan of Lita. However, the flame-haired Diva wasn't what inspired Bayley to become a wrestler. A recent radio appearance on the Kevin Gill Show reveals who was the biggest inspiration for the female. Watching back to old tapes, Bayley was in awe of 'Macho Man' Randy Savage. In the early-90's, Savage had moved away from his traditional ring attire, favouring more flamboyant robes and ring jackets. Bayley loved what she was seeing. Today, the NXT star can usually be seen sporting tassels and other colourful garments to ringside. That was directly influenced by Randy Savage. During the podcast, Bayley intimated that the tassels are her own little tribute to the 'Macho Man'. She also said they inspire her to be a more dynamic performer, something Savage most definitely was during his heyday.
