10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Feb 9)

7. Austin Aries Had Talks With Impact When He Was Still In WWE

Austin Aries could have done more, way more, in WWE. Instead of realising that Aries is a born heel though, WWE cast him as a veteran babyface chasing the Cruiserweight Title. Frustration from the wrestler and creative differences between both parties led to Austin's departure last Summer, and he's since popped up in Defiant Wrestling, on the indy scene elsewhere and back in Impact Wrestling.

During an interview with WrestleZone Radio, Aries opened up on talks with Impact and revealed they actually started when he was still under WWE contract. That's pretty tasty, because it seems Austin was engineering a move away from the company before they even knew it themselves.

Good on him for securing his future.

The only (slight) surprise is that he didn't come into Impact as soon as his 90-day non-compete clause with WWE had expired in October.
