Quick question: have you ever looked at Shawn Michaels or Marty Jannetty and immediately thought about furniture?

Bruce Prichard told on his Something To Wrestle With podcast that Verne Gagne did. The AWA owner was reacting to a new name Michaels and Jannetty had come up with to counter his son Greg's suggestion that they be called 'The Country Rockers'. Both wrestlers believed that 'The Midnight Rockers' was a much better moniker.

To dear old Verne, this conjured up images of rocking chairs on a porch. It wasn't until Gagne witnessed first hand the raging popularity of his new tag-team that he let them continue using it. Oh, Verne, how out of touch you were with the late-1980's.

Things could have been very different for The Rockers had they been stopped from using their now-famous name.
