8. WCW Wanted The Great Muta To Flunk Mist Spot

In July of 2000, World Championship Wrestling was in disarray. The company seemed bereft of ideas, almost as though they too had bought into the fact that they were firmly behind the then-WWF. Less than a full year later, the cherished company would be out of business as a standalone entity. In Mark Madden's mind, it was hardly a surprise. Speaking to Jim Ross on the legendary announcer's podcast, Madden told a cool story about his time in WCW. For one episode of Nitro that July, the creative team wanted The Great Muta to fire his trademark green mist at Madden and miss his face. Writers told the commentator that the Japanese grappler would splat his chest with the mist, but Madden didn't think Muta would do so. Wearing sunglasses, Madden knew that Muta would never sacrifice a crucial part of his act for a lowly announcer. As he had guessed, the wrestler blasted him in the face with the green, which effectively ruined what the writers had in mind. All of this was only so Madden could film a backstage segment with the long-forgotten Kwee-Wee. Due to the fact his face was covered in the supposedly painful mist, the skit was ruined.
