It's fairly well-known that Batista chose to leave WWE in 2010 because he wasn't happy with the direction of the company. Unconvinced by a sugar-coated PG format, 'The Animal' also had designs on chasing other projects in Hollywood. Since then, his success in films like Guardians Of The Galaxy and Spectre haven't stopped him from returning to WWE.

On coming back for a brief run in 2014, Batista told DailyDead.com that he wasn't actually supposed to be on screen for as long as he was. In fact, WWE wanted him there longer. After WrestleMania XXX, Batista reunited with Triple H and Randy Orton as Evolution.

Following that, WWE fancied promoting a singles bout between Batista and Daniel Bryan.

Batista had already done the honours for Bryan at 'Mania. During the aforementioned interview with DailyDead, Batista says he struggled to understand why WWE would want to put on another match. After all, he had put Bryan over on the biggest pay-per-view of the year.

Staying an extra month, Batista eventually grew frustrated again and elected not to stick around in WWE any longer.
