At SummerSlam, Finn Balor became the first ever WWE Universal Champion. That dream turned to a nightmare quickly, an injury suffered during the match with Seth Rollins forced the Irishman to vacate the new title. Since then, he has undergone intense surgery and will be on the sidelines for quite some time.

During a press conference event this week, Balor answered a question from Screen Geek. The website wanted to know if this was the worst injury Finn has ever experienced in his rich career. Honest and reflective, Balor said that he had a much worse scenario when working in Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Wondering what the incredible pain was in his shin, Balor (then working as Prince Devitt) was taken to hospital. There, doctors informed him that he had a serious infection in his leg. Effectively, that infection was eating away at his shin bone.

As if that wasn't traumatic enough, staff told the wrestler that they would likely have had to amputate his leg if he had come the next day. Thankfully, it didn't come to that.
