1. WWF Locker Room Called Bret Hart '400k Per Year Champ'
At times, it's unclear exactly how much Scott Hall is saying for the benefit of the 'marks' who follow everything in the pro wrestling world. There have surely been times when the man is simply embellishing stories for the benefit of those who gobble up every little story around. Nonetheless, it does seem he's being genuine when he gives his opinion on Bret Hart's reign as WWF Heavyweight Champion. During the mid-1990's, Hall was plying his trade as Razor Ramon. The character would never reach the top of the card, but he was a vitally important part of the 'New WWF Generation' marketing campaign. At the head of that campaign sat Bret Hart. According to Hall, Hart's nickname in the WWF locker room was the '400k per year champ'. The general consensus on Bret - at least from Scott Hall and his friends - was that he was ill-concerned with making huge money, like his predecessors Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior had. Instead, Hart wanted to win strongly and get to apply his Sharpshooter submission hold. In Hall's view, that made it difficult for the rest of the roster to really respect him, because he wasn't drawing megabucks as champion. It's intriguing to think the WWF locker room viewed Bret this way, because it contrasts with how he has always talked about being regarded.
