10 Wrestling Gimmicks That Failed Before They Started

2. Naked Mideon

It should be obvious that a mostly naked male wrestler wasn't going to be a success with the predominantly male fanbase, but apparently to the creative minds behind the WWE, it wasn't. Not only did they decide that a (mostly) naked wrestler was the way to go, they opted to choose Mideon for the role. Need we say more as to why this gimmick failed before it even started? The "naked" version of Mideon had a brief run in 2000, and then found himself working house shows under his old name, Tex Slazenger before being released in early 2001. He returned in 2006 for a few untelevised matches under his real name, Dennis Knight, and currently works as a chef. We sincerely hope no one thinks of naked Mideon while eating any of his dishes.
