10 Wrestling Legends Who Bled The Most For Their Art

5. Hulk Hogan

The Hulkster is many, many things but blade shy is not one of them. An effective tool in his hulk up routine would often see what was left of Hogan’s bleached hair fast turn red as the diabolical heel of the week gave him the what for.

Hogan has gone on record various times bragging about his mastery of subtly wounding himself for the crowds’ entertainment (though his Wrestlemania VII clash with Sgt Slaughter would like a word). Keeping the blade in his mouth (don’t try this at home kids), Hogan was more than happy to crank the violence up a notch when it suited.

This trend remained apparent throughout his 40+ year career. Near the start of this decade, Hogan put on claret soaked nostalgia festivals against the likes of Ric Flair and Sting in TNA.

Best of all his much talked about Summerslam 05 clash with Shawn Michaels. Hogan goes through all the usual motions and mounts the big boot/leg drop come back for the win after a bloody beatdown from HBK. This would’ve all been fine of course had it not been for Michaels’ wildly cartoonish overselling of every little thing in the match. Apparently done out of protest due to Hogan refusing to put Michaels over in a rematch, the clash of Hogan’s red faced drama with Michaels’ antics has to be seen to be believed.
