Kairi Sane tweeted a memorable picture of her forehead the day after wrestling Nia Jax on Raw in June 2020. It made wrestling news outlets and was a talking point online as it featured a deep gash in Sane’s forehead from an injury she sustained in the match with Nia, and was yet another injury in Nia’s reputation for legitimately hurting opponents.

It happened when Nia forcibly threw Sane into the steel steps at ringside. WWE was taping all of their shows at the time due to the pandemic, with one of the benefits being WWE could edit the shows how they wanted to when they aired on TV. With that in mind WWE backstage ordered the match to come to a halt for an extended period of time as medical officials checked up on Sane, concerned for her welfare.

All of this was shrewdly edited off TV, with WWE covering the edit up with crowd shots of wrestlers at the Performance Centre. They filmed a quick scene where Nia hit a leg drop on Sane for the abrupt win, which if you watch back you’ll notice Sane’s face covered in blood, even after officials checked on her and wiped away much of it; that’s how gaping the gash was.
