10 Wrestling Matches That Haven't Aged Well
3. Hulk Hogan Vs. Andre The Giant (WrestleMania III)
Billed as "the irresistible force meeting the immovable object", the sight of the titanic Andre the Giant turning on one-time pal Hulk Hogan in the lead-up to a WrestleMania III super fight was enough to produce a much-disputed 93,173 event attendance for arguably the biggest wrestling event in the sport's history.
While still a main event to behold mostly due to the sheer audible excitement being generated by the visual of these two larger than life superstars squaring up to each other inside of the squared circle, this was again a case of the hype far exceeding the in-ring end product.
With Andre's back being an absolute mess coming into the Showcase bout, The Hulkster wasn't even sure if his great adversary would be in a position to take the now legendary powerslam. According to Hogan himself, Andre even rejected his first attempt to pull off the monumental feat early in the match, despite it being a part of the original plan.
Away from that Pontiac Silverdome-popping slam heard around the world, though, there's a reason this 'Mania III conclusion came away with Meltzer's "Worst Worked Match of the Year" award in 1987. And the admittedly iconic contest has only lost more of its physical shine with age.
