10 Wrestling Matches That Were Way Better Than Anyone Expected
6. Money In The Bank - WrestleMania 21
These days, the Money in the Bank ladder match is a staple of WWE's calendar, and fans have seen several iterations of the match, both good and bad. Back when Chris Jericho first introduced the concept in 2005, though, it was a complete unknown. Fans had seen one-on-one ladder matches before, and the series of TLC bouts that came in the early 2000s added more players to the equation, but this would be the first time six men entered such a match with every man fighting only for himself.
Would there simply be too many people involved, making the whole thing a mess? Would the lack of a teamwork factor damage the psychology of the bout? It turned out that any worries were quickly put to rest. The fighting was intense, with strange alliances being formed in the heat of the moment and the number of competitors assuring that there were no breaks in the action. In the end, the bout was such a success that it became a tradition, and then a pay-per-view event.
Of course, having guys like Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho, Christian, and Edge in the match didn't hurt, either.
